I'm Tristan Gates, based in Olympia Washington.

After a successful career in tech, I reached a point where my finances gave me real options. Not because of a windfall or a lucky stock sale. Because I was deliberate about it for long enough that it compounded into something meaningful.

I started Offseason Financial because I wanted to do something useful with what I've learned. Not everyone has someone in their corner helping them optimize their taxes, structure their accounts correctly, or thinking through the big decisions before they make them. I think for some people, it’s worth having a professional in their corner.

I write here about the things I care about most in personal finance. Building flexibility into your financial life. Making sure your money is working as hard as you are. Planning in a way that gives you more choices over time, not fewer.

I'm currently working toward my CFP certification and building this as a resource for people in Washington who want straightforward, honest financial guidance.
